East Sussex College Group was formed on 31 March 2018 as a result of a merger between Sussex Coast College Hastings and Sussex Downs College.
We offer a number of traditional Sixth Form subjects, alongside vocational and professional courses, apprenticeships and re-engagement programmes. East Sussex College also welcomes Higher Education learners, with a range of Degree-level courses available. Our International study programmes, based in Eastbourne, Hastings and Lewes, offer top-rated education to overseas students looking to improve their English or study other subjects alongside English.
Governors, leaders and managers have worked hard since the merger of the colleges to establish the identity of each campus and place each one at the heart of the local communities we serve. We are at a really exciting, but challenging time at the college.
We are very keen to talk to people from east Sussex and surrounding areas who would like to know more about being a ‘governor’ and board member of east Sussex college group! We intend to recruit up to six new board members during 2020 and we’d welcome the chance to talk with and listen to anyone who thinks they may be interested!
The College's governing body is known as the East Sussex College Group Board.
The Board is made up of individuals with a broad base of skills and experience drawn from the communities served by the College. Some governors are appointed directly by the Board from the general public and some are elected by the staff and students of the College. It meets regularly to review the College’s mission, consider strategic developments, systematically monitor College and management performance, review and monitor the implementation of a range of college policies, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements at all times. The Board is charged with fostering an environment that enables the College to fulfil its mission for the benefit of learners and the community it serves.
