East Midlands Community Housing is an independent organisation, set up to support local people build or develop the homes they want. Accredited personnel work to support community-led projects and their partners across the housing, property development and government sectors.
EMCLH works with many kinds of housing projects across Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. We are currently engaged with: Self-build and Custom-build proposals, Community Land Trusts, Development Trusts, Co-operative Housing groups, Tenant Management projects, Co-Housing schemes and Self Help renovation works.
EMCLH privdes the following services to help communities build homes: project management, capacity-building skills & skills development, site feasibiliy studies, design studies, financial assessments, access to grant and loan finance, policy development, patnership development and technical and professional appointments.
EMCLH was set up in 2012 as a Community Interest Company and since that time has helped to build 38 community-led homes in the region.
EMCLH are involved in community-led projects within the East Midlands Region, providing support to a variety of projects including: building new dwellings, providing affordable housing, renovating empty properties, promoting 'low impact' homes, creating 'intentional' neighbourhoods, helping older households 'downsize', managing local housing services, expanding local skills and jobs and acting as 'stewards'of local places.
