•Enhance the community by supporting parks and green spaces and allowing them to thrive

•Contribute towards maintaining an excellent quality and appropriate quantity of parks and green spaces

•Ensure that parks and green spaces have a positive influence on well-being

•Promote activities that engage and empower local communities to actively care for their parks and green spaces

•Create and promote opportunities for learning, participating and volunteering, through innovative schemes

•Protect and enhance wildlife, heritage and biodiversity

•Celebrate parks and green spaces

EPF Summary of achievements at March 22

The Ealing Parks Foundation has been in operation since January 2020 and was awarded Charitable Status in July 2021.  It was initially sponsored by the Parks Department of Ealing Council. Now established, it is an independent organisation with all Trustees, including a local Councillor, resident within the Borough.

The setting up of the Foundation and the implementation of projects was heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the period April 2020 to March 2022, the Foundation:

  • Established an independent team with the originally Council-recruited Trustees
  • Developed a brand identity
  • Set up a website at www.ealingparks.foundation
  • Created a social media presence across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Carried out a borough wide survey on-line
  • Produced its first report and annual accounts
  • Set up Gift Aid
  • Helped to develop and launch a monthly plant and art market at North Acton Playing Fields, hosted by the Artification charity
  • Established an outdoor photographic exhibition at North Acton Playing Fields including a launch event attended by the Mayor of Ealing and several senior Councillors
  • Facilitated the funding of new gates at Horsenden Farm to enable the introduction of conservation cattle onto the site
  • Secured funding from HAF (Holiday Activities and Food Programme) to deliver nature activities for children in receipt of school meals during the summer of 2021 and the development of legacy materials (nature trail activities for Southall, Acton and Northala parks)
  • Funded Hallowe’en themed nature sessions in October 2021 for children and families
  • Developed a current project with Spacehive to fundraise for a drinking water fountain in Southall Park

Additionally, we will be collaborating and forming partnerships to provide not only funds but advice and expertise.  We will work with voluntary groups, Friends groups and a wide variety of partners to fulfil our objectives to make Ealing's Parks greener, more biodiverse and people friendly.
