Objectives

Our aims and objectives are to:

  • Increase access to justice for the local community primarily in the areas of housing, immigration, and welfare rights law;
  • to manage a thriving community library space with the assistance of local volunteers;
  • to engage in partnership work and influence policy;
  • to combat digital exclusion by supporting the community with accessing online services;
  • to develop services in additional areas of law family and employment where funding opportunities allow;
  • to engage the local community through our work at the community library in knowing their rights and improving access to justice;
  • To train and develop the next generation of social justice lawyers.

Our help provides members of our community in need matters as it provides them a roof over their heads, a base to rebuild their lives and regain their sense of hope and self-esteem. We help them access their rights and entitlements under  housing , immigration and welfare rights law all of which are the basic and necessary foundations for building lives and integrating into the community.

Activities

We provide free legal advice and representation in Housing, Immigration and Welfare Benefits.
You can find us at Hanwell Community Library. Our staff speak some community languages including Arabic, Punjabi and Somali.

Our services are delivered by a team of qualified solicitors, accredited caseworkers and committed volunteers.

ELC is a registered charity run by volunteer trustees. Our work is funded through legal aid, trust fund grants and donations.

Our aim is to relieve poverty, suffering and distress among persons resident or working within London Borough of Ealing and neighbouring Boroughs through the provision of free legal advice and assistance; and the advancement of education for these persons.

We are committed to working in partnership with other local organisations and if requested, will provide training on our specialist areas of law for the benefit of the community.
