Southall Community Alliance: Operating a community resource centre for disadvantaged community organisations in Southall and developing local community cohesion work - Providing hot desks, meeting space, fundraising assistance, use of postal address, training etc to community groups -Involvement in local or sub-regional VCS partnerships -empowering and informing residents and community groups about local issues

Mission

 

To work with our members to convene regular forums for the voluntary sector to share learning & information, to collaborate with one another, and to ensure effective communication between the voluntary and statutory sectors so that they can make collective and cohesive decisions for the benefit of the community.

  • Independent: ECN is led entirely by the needs of its members and is an objective and independent voice for the community and voluntary sector in Ealing
  • Representative: ECN represents the complex diversity of Ealing’s communities through its members, and ensures that the most marginalised groups have a voice in shaping services
  • Informed: ECN stays aware of the most up to date information and needs of the communities it serves
  • Democratic: ECN consults with its members on all issues and makes decisions based on their needs
  • Collaborative: ECN works cohesively with other strategic organisations in the voluntary and statutory sector to ensure its work enriches the sector

 

Objectives

 

  1. To communicate the views of grassroots, community & voluntary sector organisations in Ealing to stakeholders and in Ealing
  2. To facilitate cross-sector collaboration on thematic issues facing vulnerable groups in Ealing
  3. To attract a diverse and representative membership of voluntary and community organisations in Ealing
  4. To collate and communicate information and opportunities for the voluntary sector to members and stakeholders

Activities

ECN’s primary role is to ensure that the C&V sector has a collective voice and an accountable and democratic consultative body by which it can agree a collective view on key issues,  communicate this effectively and constructively to strategic partners and vice versa; and elect ECN representatives onto key strategic bodies and partnerships

Elected reps annually from across the sector for key service areas

Hold an Annual conference

3 x general meetings per year
