Dorset Museum collects, reveals and inspires connections with the universal themes of Dorset’s story. We aim to attrach a broad audience to discover and enjoy the richness of Dorset’s natural, historical and cultural heritage, and appreciate the impact of the county and its people on our understanding of the wider world.
Dorset Museum is open to visitors 7 days a week. Apart from carefully curated, extensive permanent collections, it hosts temporary exhibitions, has an active learning centre for educational visits, and offers a wide range of events and activities, from tours of the collections, to speakers about the many aspects of Dorset culture and history, to craft-making sessions. The Museum also offers tailored activities and sessions for those who may find museum settings challenging for various reasons. The newly renovated building is fully accessible.
