Objectives

Dorset Community Foundation is a grant-making organisation that supports small charities, community groups and individuals in need across Dorset through its grants programmes.

We work with local individuals, companies and institutions who set up funds with us to be able to distribute grants to a wide range of projects delivered by grassroots community organisations - many of whom struggle to find funding elsewhere.  We also manage funds on behalf of other local and national funders, for example, Comic Relief.

Activities

The Foundation has been operating since 2000 and in the last 16 years has distributed over £10 million in grants to people facing disadvantage in Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole.  We support individuals through our Bursary Scheme for 16-21 year olds and older people facing fuel poverty through our Surviving Winter grants.

Our grant programmes for community organisations supports a wide range of projects including those tackling social isolation and health and well-being inequalities and supporting people with disabilities, older people, young families, carers and children and young people.
