The Dorcas Dress Project works to support people out of a wide range of situations of hardship through dressmaking training, equipment and pastoral support, and the opportunity to make and sell the Dorcas Dress.
We are motivated to do this by our Christian values as we model our work on our namesake Dorcas: a dressmaker from the early church, who welcomed others into her group, shared her sewing skills and took care of the marginalised in her community.
We are a small project with a turnover of under £5,000 and we gained charity status in 2018.
We provide training, equipment and pastoral support to make and sell the Dorcas Dress. We work with existing communities or help to link beneficiaries into existing communities. We are currently supporting beneficiaries in the UK and Nigeria and looking to continue growing our reach.
