What Is DIYgogo?

Using online applications DIYgogo seeks to increase the up-cycling of building materials. Registration and use of the service in entirely free, is available on all devices, and is accessible UK wide.

Our goals

  • To increase the up-cycling of construction materials.

  • To reduce the use of unsustainable disposal chains, such as incineration and landfill.

  • To increase property maintenance and restoration opportunities for all.

Our impact

DEFRA reports in their 2018 edition of UK Statistics on Waste that the UK generated 202.8 million tonnes of waste. Construction, demolition and excavation (CDE) was responsible for 59% of that number. Currently 30% of landfill comprises of CDE, whilst an average of 13% of materials that reach a building site will go straight to landfill without ever being used. DIYgogo seeks to reverse this trend by implementing a circular economy component in the construction industry. We have ambitions to be the go-to service for up-cycling construction materials in the UK.

Activities

Using the convenience of a website and a PWA, we put users in touch with each other to facilitate the re-use of these materials; these can range from bricks to windows, timber to tiles, plasterboard to guttering. Our primary focus for the launch is small scale builders within hub areas, with the inclusion of larger building firms if this is possible.

Currently the website is being rebuilt in the UK to maximise its usability on all devices, including the use of social media accounts for marketing.

Once the website and PWA are complete, we will focus on executing well considered B2B and B2C marketing campaigns.
