Objectives

Discover Bucks Museum is a busy, exciting place to visit which tells the story of Bucks from 200 million years ago to today.  We play an important role in Buckinghamshire, focusing on our amazing collection encompassing archaeology, natural history, art, ceramics, natural history and social history. We also host additional special exhibitions each year provided by externally owned collections and associated special events for visitors and community audiences. One of our priority objectives is to ensure that we offer exhibitions that attract the widest and most representative groups of our local population.

We have recently opened new galleries which provide a fantastic new visitor experience to help tell the story of Bucks with a fresh and modern approach, as well as offering better representation of the lives of different communities. The Museum is also a National Portfolio Organisation with funding from the Arts Council’s new Investment Programme 2023-26 to focus on relevant and diverse community engagement in Bucks.

Activities

The museum houses extensive collections, which are cared for and displayed through exhibitions, activities and handling opportunities. There are a wealth of activities for families and exciting events, made relevant to our local communities through working closely with them. We are also home to the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery- a wonderfully hands-on area, featuring exhibits and science-themed activities relating to Roald Dahl's favourite children's books!
