Objectives

Disability Sport Yorkshire is an organisation of and for disabled people. The organisation was set up in 1993 to bring together various disability sports organisations across Yorkshire.

DSY works to support the agencies involved in providing sport and active recreation to meet their intentions and obligations to involve disabled people in everything they do.

Our programmes reach almost 10,000 people across the region each year and we are dependent on voluntary support in order to deliver our programmes and fulfil our aims.

Our Vision:

DSY's vision is based solely on the premise that sport and physical activity can be instrumental in improving the lives of disabled people, supported by the desire to enhance the overall wellbeing of individuals, their mental health, the feeling of belonging and aiding social inclusion.

We aim to make Yorkshire the best place in England for disabled people to:

  • Improve their health through physical activity
  • Play sport on a regular basis
  • Become sporting champions
