Objectives

We are a small, but long-standing, disability charity based in Huntingdon. We have been in operation since 1991 and have a long history of successfully supporting disabled people. We provide benefits advice, guidance and support for disabled people and their carers. Support is given over the phone, by email and face-to-face. Because of the cost of living crisis, now more than ever it is vital that people get the support they need. Our team, including our wonderful volunteers and advocacy service, support with other issues too such as debt and housing problems.

We are the only organisation locally who also help people in their own homes, which is often the only way those most at need can access help to get benefits that will keep them independent and out of care homes or hospital.

Activities

We are committed to ensuring that we continue to deliver a responsive and high-quality service that is accessible within the communities where our clients live. We are focussing on developing more reach to ethnically diverse communities and to spread our wings in other parts of the county.

Working with our partners is vital and we are exploring new opportunities whilst consolidating our position as an expert provider of services. We review our service performance consistently to ensure our financial viability through grants, donations, and contracts. Securing funding continues to be a priority and we endeavour to increase funding by 20% each year. Funding has also enabled staff growth which will ultimately benefit more clients.

DISH has a strong and cohesive staff team, and we are currently looking to attract more trustees, who will be able to carry DISH forward for years to come.
