Objectives

Disability Equality North West is a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) that started in 1996. The organisation is run and controlled by disabled people. The main aim is to further the human rights of disabled people (ie people with a physical or sensory impairment, learning difficulty, mental health issue and/or long term condition)across the North West and we provide a number of user-led services to support disabled people and achieve this aim. The different services have arisen out of local community needs and they promote the Social Model of Disability.

Activities

We have a 5 year strategic plan, written in consultation with local disabled people, that identifies 5 key aims/priorities for disabled people. We provide services, activities and events to meet those aims and to help disabled people to live independently and be active in their local communities.
