Objectives

Dignity helps people to build community, bring others to Jesus and overcome disadvantage.

"After being part of a Life Group I have come to know the word of God which has changed my life. I used to drink a lot. I would beat my wife and would not care for my family. I did not think my marriage was important. I am no longer the same. I am a changed person!" Andrew, Life Group member & planter, Zambia

Pioneering: We actively seek out areas where the church is at its weakest. We create and make available a library of materials, resources and ways of working which are freely available to support those who are becoming involved in God’s mission and plans for communities.

People: We go where the Spirit leads us to find people that God has placed in the communities he wants us to work with. We call these people Oaks of Righteousness (Isaiah 61:3); some of them do not know God yet. They are the foundation for the work God will do in their community.

Working Together: We believe that bringing people of all types together with Jesus and their community is a powerful force for change. Our principal method of achieving this is through the creation of Life Groups which unify and then enrich their communities.

Activities

Bringing life and hope

Our work is focused on sharing and promoting the good news of Jesus in local community. We achieve this through the formation of Life Groups: communities on mission together. Life Groups enable everyday people to become ‘oaks of righteousness’, bringing people to Jesus and teaching how to live life in all its fullness.

Least first

We focus on situations where people are under-represented, poor and have low education, in geographically or linguistically hard to reach regions or where there is little or no church. We call this approach ‘least first’. We design our methods and materials so those who could be seen as the least, are the ones who benefit and are reached first.

Life Groups have…

  • cared for the elderly and given young people a sense of purpose.
  • welcomed the overlooked and brought down crime rates.
  • provided for the poorest.
  • supported those who are HIV positive and educated people about staying safe during the time of COVID.
  • repaired roofs, roads and bridges and accessed government schemes to benefit the whole village.
  • brought many people to Jesus.

We have seen how evangelism leads to people coming to know Jesus, how teaching, friendship and community lead to discipleship and how acts of kindness and love transform these communities.

"They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour." - Isaiah 61:3
