Context: The Didcot Community Partnership exists to promote and help develop a clear and joined up vision for those people and organisations involved in living in and building community in Didcot. As Didcot continues to grow, we will do all that we can to help our community to become stronger and more cohesive by working collaboratively.
Objectives:
1) To further or benefit the residents of Didcot and the surrounding area, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.
2) For the public benefit, to promote good citizenship and the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by any means as the Trustees in their discretion shall determine.
3) To develop the capacity and skills of socially, economically or otherwise disadvantaged members of the community of Didcot and the surrounding area, in such a way that their needs can be more effectively identified and met and that they are empowered to participate more fully in society.
Our intention is that this will be much more impactful when we influence statutory bodies and decision makers regarding any key future community matters. We intend to build on existing connections in order to positively influence such matters as the development of Didcot Garden Town, future usage of Developers’ Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) monies, decision making regarding creation and sustainable management of new community buildings, content of Local Plans, etc.
In order to further develop the DCP we will establish associations with other local charities and organisations who, by their existence and good works, also contribute positively towards our community. These combinations naturally have the potential to deliver more by working on mutual goals and ambitions.
The benefits of this are that we will collectively make our presence felt in our expanding town, becoming known more widely and more quickly by offering an integrated positive approach to achieving what we have expressed in our objectives.
