DFY is a non-profit organisation founded by sports agency International Sports Consulting (ISC)
VISION
DFY was born out of a desire to level the playing field for the next generation.
MISSION
Our mission is to engage with young disaffected or disenfranchised kids who don't have access to the springboards that give others a head start in life, and help equip them with the mental skills to realise their full potential. ISC brought together a team of international athletes, ambassadors and mentors willing to give their time to help and inspire young people to dream big.
Using some of the best sporting talent in the country as our ambassadors and role models, we bring children unrivalled leadership, mentoring and coaching into the classroom and out on the field.
They identified the values they have had to live by to get there and motivate the kids to find instances in their own life where they can utilise these.
Using educational and practical sessions to develop transferable life skills such as; confidence, resilience, communication and teamwork
In the classroom, ambassadors share their journey to the top and the values they developed along the way as professional athletes
On the pitch we use dynamic coaching sessions and sport as a conduit to show how the values the pupils learnt in the classroom play out in reality. So the pupils learn to get along with their peers and figure out the rules together.
The process helps pupils to reflect on how they could utilise the values and tools they have learnt in the sessions to overcome future challenges in their own lives
Outside our sessions, dedicated mentors support kids who are in need
This formula has been proven to add confidence, communication and conflict resolution ability, team play, and sportsmanship as well as result in less truancy and increased engagement in school.
We believe the values learned through the DFY programme are transferable to all areas of their life - every young person can succeed, whatever their background
Together, we can close those gaps between disadvantaged young people and their better-off peers, and level the playing field for good
