Volunteers are essential and valued members of the team. We provide comprehensive training and oversight by senior health and social care professionals, an opportunity to enhance a CV and references, regular recognition and celebration events and reimburse all agreed out of pocket expenses.
Devon Carers are funded by Devon County Council and the NHS to provide support to unpaid carers across Devon and are managed by Westbank Health and Social Care Ltd.
The National Award-Winning Hospital Services Team, have honorary NHS contracts to work alongside RD&E, North Devon District Hospital, Torbay Hospital and Derriford Hospital with a view to assist the NHS to speed up discharge, avoid unnecessary admissions and re-admissions and support family and friends to assist with making the caring role more sustainable long term.

Devon Carers enable unpaid carers to maintain their own health, wellbeing and independence; and to care safely, confidently and effectively. We provide carers with the information and advice they need in their caring role. We also help carers find support in their community and from local community organisations.
The Hospital Service team provides targeted support in the first weeks following discharge. A Hospital Liasion worker will provide 1:1 guidance and advice and help look for solutions to reduce stress and strain, this can be access to practical support and longer-term support if eligible. We receive over 300 referrals a month and last year worked with 3698 people
