We help children and young people, whose lives are too short, to make happy memories in an environment of fun, respect and above all, Outstanding Care.
We provide respite and end-of-life care to more than 450 children and young people across the North West.
We do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week, We never close to those who need us and our help extends right across the family to brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents. We look after children and young people right up until their 26th birthday offering palliative care, respite stays, day care, holidays and end of life support. We continue to offer transition support for those young people who are leaving us up until their 28th birthday ensuring they have a well-established network of support in their community.
At Derian House, we care for children and young people from birth to the age of 26, and provide practical and emotional support for families as well as helping them plan for the future. Children and young people visit for day care or for overnight respite breaks, and spend happy days splashing in the hydrotherapy pool, doing arts and crafts, relaxing in the sensory room, or enjoying music therapy. The Lodge facility enables young people aged 16-26 to have more independence and control over their own care with spacious city-themed bedrooms and an accessible kitchen. Derian House isn’t all about the hospice – the services can be brought to families’ homes when they need it.
The hospice provides end-of-life care as well as an alternative place for a child to rest, giving families more time to say goodbye. Derian House cares for the whole family, whenever they need it, with emotional and practical support extended to parents, siblings, and grandparents.
We know that every child or young person has different needs and we do what we can to offer the relevant support and advice to make their time at Derian as comfortable as possible.
