Objectives

The Delicate Mind is an award winning mental health community interest company that supports racialised and working class communities.

To date we have worked with over 90 organisations from multiple sectors such as public health bodies, research organisations, colleges, prisons, youth groups, community groups and the third sector.

We have published research and guidance for professionals, reached over 6,000 people through our activities and developed a long-term relationship with Public Health Birmingham from which we are currently delivering a community mental health service within the West Midlands.

Currently we deliver workshops and a community service across the West Midlands, our service is specific to the Muslim community and our workshops are open to the wider public to help to educate, inform and organise others.

We are a fledgling organisation with a long term vision to completely overhaul mental health care through using Tech and A.I, a mission we are currently in the midst of and one that we would love to have you involved with with as we build our mental health movement.

You can read more about the ongoing work and story on the website if what we have spoken of interests you as we hope that it has done.

Activities

Interactive Workshops - Our workshops explore mental health through the prism of interactive client tailored workshops to organisations such as educational institutions, NGOS, businesses, prisons, faith institutions, schools and other third sector organisations.

We have worked with over 90 organisations such as The NHS, The Samaritans, Kick It Out, Public Health England, The British Council and IPSO all for the purpose of embedding much more inclusive and nuanced understanding regarding mental health.

Public Health Services -  We are currently working in partnership with Public Health Birmingham to deliver phase two of our mindful Muslims programme, a community service that provides support, information and guidance to the Muslim diaspora of the West Midlands.

Research -  We have published research and articles that highlight information as to how to support the mental health of racialised communities as well as how to better build truly inclusive mental health practices.

Training -  We deliver training to organisations around issues such as cultural competency and anti oppressive mental health practices once again for the purpose of creating a truly equitable understanding of mental ill health.

Media Advocacy - We use our established media platform to advocate for better mental health/illness public awareness and information so that the national populace is better educated and informed relating to the complex issue with mental health.

Tech & AI - Our director is currently undertaking an MSC in Computer Science at The University Of Birmingham for the long term purpose of creating AI tools and systems that deliver more effective and nuanced mental health care.
