Objectives

The principal objectives of the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity as formally recorded by the Charity Commission are: “to provide education and other relevant related services to children with cerebral palsy and associated disabilities, and their parents and carers”.

Our objective is to motivate learning through activities and experiences which are fun and stimulating, to improve their future opportunities in education, employment and independent living.  Our support of the family helps them understand their child’s abilities and achievements and play a key role in the teaching partnership; they are better able to assess and address their child’s future needs and learn how best to support their child and apply that learning at home.

Activities

Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity offers an early intervention service for babies and children under five years of age with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties.  In the UK around 1,800 babies are diagnosed with cerebral palsy each year.

At  our School for Parents in West Sussex families are invited to attend a weekly three hour small group session which is structured to focus on achieving success.  A highly skilled and professional team use the principles of Conductive Education to help a child develop physical, emotional, social and communication skills through play activities which are fun.
