Aim:
To improve cycling infrastructure to make cycling safer and more attractive as a means of getting around in our area.
Objectives:
•To promote active and inclusive travel;
•To ease pressure on our roads and parking spaces;
•To reduce traffic congestion;
•To reduce carbon emissions;
•To improve air quality;
•To integrate cycling with reliable public transport;
To support a healthier community
• Maintaining a prioritised Cycle Network Improvement Plan to guide Active Travel Fund grant applications;
• Working with Wiltshire Council’s Sustainable Transport & Highways teams, to help ensure money is spent where it will have max impact;
• Working with the Chippenham Neighbourhood Plan, the Local Highway & Footway Improvement Group and Town Council PET Committee;
• Helping to secure grant funding from these and other sources to pay for enhancement projects (e.g. cycle routes, parking, signage);
• Ensuring new developments provide for cycling, incl. safe paths, links to the wider network & secure parking, by liaising with developers, Wiltshire and Town councils & other stakeholders, as part of the planning process;
• Engaging with the local community to raise awareness, obtain local knowledge and prioritise investment.
