Objectives

Off the Curriculum is an educational charity aiming to inspire young people (ages 16-18) in the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark to reach new heights. Off the Curriculum will conduct its work for the public benefit, to encourage young people to forge new paths by (a) providing an advanced educational service which incorporates both "in-person" and "online" learning experiences and (b) by inspiring young people with access to leading intellectuals.

Off the Curriculum aims to:

  • champion young people enrolled in the program to reach their full potential;
  • promote subject matters not currently explored by the National Curriculum;
  • support young people in their educational journey by providing world-leading training; and
  • develop closer links with young people and members of London's community.

Activities

Off the Curriculum will offer an educational program that encourages young people to develop their technical- and soft- skills for future success. To establish such a wide-ranging skill-set, OTC will encourage topic exploration through our seminars, online learning platform ‘Educo’ (under development), and fun assignments. OTC will run a repeating six-week seminar series, consisting of five dynamic seminars led by guest speakers and one participant-determined assessment session, allowing participants to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge. OTC personnel will work collaboratively with our appointed Trustee and Teacher Advisory Board, which consists of notable experts working in education, business, scientific research, and governance. We elected the Trustee and Teacher Advisory Board to ensure we deliver an outstanding educational program. Seminars have been designed to offer a well-rounded and flexible learning experience to our participants and will incorporate a social aspect via discussion and debate.
