We are a purely philanthropic charity with a focus on making small donations to achieve the biggest possible benefit. Our beneficiaries are mostly small organisations or individuals, for whom small gifts are significant. We also give to larger organisations at times of sudden great need, such as war, famine and natural disaster. We believe our impact is as an enabling organisation, supporting the practical endeavours of others.
The Cumberland Trust uses the interest from investments to support a variety of mainly small charities. We were set up to support Christian endeavour, the support of the poor, sick and aged, and such other causes as we see fit in its many guises and we do so with a fairly liberal approach. Our focus is now largely on smaller organisations close to Derby, but we do distribute funds internationally and nationally after each 6 monthly trustee meeting.
