CTI 2000 provides opportunities for local adults with learning disabilities to meet for fun and friendship, to be active members of the local community and to help them reach their full potential. Our activities are designed to build self-confidence, encourage interaction in social settings and improve essential life skills.
Members attend weekly social groups offering a variety of activities and outings throughout the year. The groups are well attended and received by members, some of whom have been attending for 15 years or more. They provide valuable opportunities to participate in leisure opportunities for people who are often quite socially isolated or feel excluded from many mainstream services by their disabilities.
CTI 2000 runs popular weekly social activity groups including an Allotment Project, Buzz/Supper Club and Contact Group. Members pay small fees to attend these groups to cover the running costs of venues, food and part-time staff. All groups/activities are delivered by trained part-time staff with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers.
In addition, we provide various outings on an annual basis to a variety of places which has included the seaside, Lake District, museums, gardens and heritage railways. In 2022 we resumed our summer outings after a 2 year absence due to Covid and they proved extremely popular, most trips were fully booked on visits to Lake Windermere, Lytham and Nell Bank Outdoor Activity Centre.
We raise funds and apply for funding on an ongoing basis to sustain our services, staffing, venues and other costs. We are a small charity and do a lot without a lot (money)!
