Cruse Bereavement Care provides emotional support and information to bereaved people across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We have a network of local services offering face-to-face support both individually and in groups, or by telephone, and a national helpline which provides essential immediate emotional support.
The National Helpline is a key part of Cruse’s services – it is often the first point of contact for someone looking for support after a bereavement. As a volunteer you would offer immediate support to the caller, explore their circumstances and together work out what options of support they have available. It can be challenging, but is definitely a rewarding opportunity to support bereaved people when they most need it.
Our National Helpline Volunteers spoke to around 11,000 bereaved people last year, but our demand remains high. By training as a Helpline Volunteer you can help us support bereaved people directly by completing a shift a week, speaking to people on the phone and helping them understand the options of support available to them.
