Our beneficiaries -
Our charitable object is to support unpaid carers, of all ages, who care for a family member, relative or friend with serious health condition or disability living within the Borough of Wokingham and its surrounding areas.
Our service -
We provide home based respite breaks to support unpaid carers. There are estimated 16,500 unpaid carers in Wokingham, of whom about 1,200 are young carers who are under the age of 18. Our care support workers will take over the carers' responsibilities in their own homes on a regular basis to give carers a break, a time to themselves - some of them may use the time to go shopping, catch up the household chores, meet up with friends, take up leisure activities or spend quality time with other family members.
Our impacts -
For carers - relief their stresses and improve their physical and mental well-being; prevent family breakdown; remain in work or education.
For people with care needs - enhance quality of life through our provision of stimulating and meaningful activities.
For statutory health & social care services - reduce burden on primary and secondary health care and residential care.
Our main activities include Home Based Breaks, Emergency Back Me Up, Young Carers Project, Holiday Playscheme for Children with Disabilities and their Siblings.
