The charity provides respite care to people who care for loved ones. Often, but not always, these will be elderly people who because of a long term condition such as dementia will be caring for their partner full time. Crossroads Care provides an opportunity to have a break from those caring responsibilities knowing that the person they care for is being looked after by a trained professional.
The charity provides Carer Support Workers who go into the home of the carers they support in order to allow them time for a break where they can do their own thing. This might be a day out visiting friends, or something as mundane as the weekly shopping, knowing that the person they care for is being looked after.
