Objectives

Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North (CCHN) is a registered charity which provides practical and emotional support for unpaid family carers and people with care needs.

CCHN is a Network Partner of Carers Trust which is a unique network of 116 independent carers centres, 55 Crossroads Care schemes and 99 young carers services. Together we are united by a shared vision for carers - to make sure that quality assured information, advice and practical support are available to all carers across the UK. Our vision is of a world where the role and contribution of unpaid carers is recognised and they have access to the trusted quality support they need to live their own lives.

Following a period of rapid growth, CCHN now has a turnover of £1.5M and employs around 140 full and part-time staff and over 30 volunteers. In 2014/15 the charity helped over 1000 carers to get a break from their caring role.

Activities

The core activity of the charity is the provision of much needed respite breaks for carers through the provision of professionally trained care workers. In addition, it provides a range of other services focused on the specific needs of carers and those for whom they are caring. These include :

  • Planning visits, outings and trips, escorting to appointments and classes
  • Supporting mobility
  • End-of-life care
  • Supporting those living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia
  • Networking opportunities for carers
  • Signposting and referrals to other support organisations

CCHN has enjoyed strong growth and positive recognition for the quality of its service provision from statutory partners, the care quality regulator and, most importantly, from its client base.
