Objectives

The Cromwell Association provides a forum for those interested in the history of the 17thC, particularly in the life of Oliver Cromwell, the civil wars, the British republic and the Protectorate, to develop their understanding  further, and to stimulate wider interest in the period. It provides a place for academics and non-academics to engage and learn. 

Activities

  • Provide education resources and an annual conference for A level students and teachers
  • Offer Post-Graduate research grants to young academics
  • Publish and annual journal and a twice yearly newsletter
  • Commission plaques, panels and monuments
  • Develop resources, in combination with others, such as a biographical directory of parliamentarian officers and a database of civil war monuments
  • Organise an annual service of commemoration for Oliver Cromwell
  • Run study days and other events
