Cromarty Courthouse Museum is a small independent charitable museum, with strong community roots, which tells the story of Cromarty through its inhabitants past and present. We are located in the heart of Cromarty’s fishertown in an A-listed eighteenth century courthouse, complete with original courtroom and cells. We have been awarded funding for the next two years to increase the sustainability of the museum by finding new ways of working.

Our objectives are to provide museum services to tell the history of Cromarty and education opportunities. We do this through a vibrant programme of event, activities and strong community links to tell the international story of Cromarty. We have a particularly strong digital programme on Smartify and are in the early stages of exploring a capital project to improve the accessibility of the building and to re-fresh the displays. We are a close-knit and passionate team who are committed to telling the complex and intriguing story of Cromarty in the most inclusive way we can.
