The Creative Living Centre is an independent charity which, since 1997, has been providing holistic support to adults who are experiencing mental or emotional distress, including general stress, anxiety or low mood through to diagnosed mental health conditions such as bipolar, schizophrenia, personality disorder, suicidal thoughts and self-harm.
Many of our members have co-existing issues such as physical disability, long term physical health conditions, a learning disability and/or a complex profile of needs including long term unemployment, difficult economic circumstances, past or present abusive relationships and housing issues. We deliver a combination of group classes and activities, individual support, therapies and counselling, opportunities for participation and volunteering, which are tailored to meet each individual's needs.
Through our service individuals learn more about themselves and their mental health and develop techniques for dealing with challenging times. They also gain new skills, improve their confidence and self esteem and are supported to become more active members of their community through taking up volunteering opportunities or taking part in projects. Many people have described our service as life changing and for some it has even been life saving, providing support and a way through the lowest point in their lives.
We work closely with the CCG to ensure we meet, record and review their requirements, as well as reporting against our objectives to the funding bodies who provide us with grants.
Classes and activities are reviewed and modified on a regular basis in response to feedback and expressed needs but some recent examples have included:
