CPRE Northamptonshire aims to protect and enhance the character and vitality of the Northamptonshire countryside for the benefit of all.
We seek to influence planning decisions affecting the countryside at local and national levels. We try to ensure that developments are visually attractive, use brownfield sites wherever possible, contain a significant proportion of affordable housing and are supported by the appropriate infrastructure. A major concern is the effect of littering on our county and, in addition to pressurising local authorities to fulfil their responsibilities, we hold annual competitions to encourage community organisations to organise local litter picks. We encourage volunteer initiatives of all kinds that enhance rural life such as community-run shops, volunteer-maintained pocket parks and village magazines.
