Objectives

CPRE campaigns for a sustainable future for the English countryside. It highlights threats and promotes positive solutions seeking to influence public opinion and decision makers at every level. CPRE is a network with over 200 district groups, a branch in every county, a group in every region and a national office making us a powerful combination of effective local action and strong national campaigning. Sir Andrew Motion is our current President

Activities

The Branch has 4 trustees. We hold monthly executive meetings which include Trustees, executive committee members and district groups’ representative.

We employ a professionally qualified Planning Officer, commission a part time development officer and administrative support (one commissioned and one a volunteer).

Our main activity is
1. to scrutinise all planning applications and make representations if we believe they are in breach of planning laws and regulations
2. to engage with Local Authorities in ensuring their development plans respect our aims to protect the countryside
3. to campaign on county wide issues relating to the protection of Lancashire’s wide and beautiful environment

About 12 volunteers actively participate in some form of assignment on behalf of the Branch, contributing a varied range of expertise. These skills include: planning, environment, transport, accountancy, PR and administration.
.
The Branch covers 26 planning authorities. There are currently active District groups in Fylde, South Ribble, Ribble Valley Chorley, West Lancs., Blackburn, and Sefton and we have a presence in Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster, St Helens, Rochdale, Blackpool and Preston

Our planning officer takes an over view of all planning applications where we do not have a group
