To lead the improvement in the availability of primary helicopter landing sites at key A&E hospitals to help end preventable loss of life caused by secondary transfers.
The HELP Appeal (Helicopter Emergency Landing Pads) is part of an ongoing programme to raise funds needed to construct or update existing helipads around the country and ensure that Major Trauma Centres and key A & E Hospitals have suitable helipad access in the future to help end preventable loss of life caused by secondary road transfers.
The HELP Appeal has helped to fund and improve helipad facilities at eight hospitals across the country with a further six opening in the next two years. When a critical injury or serious illness takes place a patient's chances of survival and early recovery is greatly increased with a helipad on-site which has direct access to the hospital's emergency department.
