CAP is a user led community organisation providing a range of services in Health and Wellbeing, Social Welfare, Arts, Education, IT, Luncheon Club facilities and Information and Advice for all members of the community regardless of age, culture or ethnicity.
In 1981 CAP set up a unique community centre, Asian Centre, based in Wood Green to provide essential support services to the Asian community in North London. Over 30 years Asian centre has been a key support for many vulnerable and marginalised Asian Community members in the area, irrespective of their age, language, culture or religion. The Centre now works with the wider community including new migrants providing a setting for integration and social advancement.
Asian Centre has served as a source of support for the community providing a range of services from basic drop-in facility, safe-guarding many from social isolation, to vital Day Care Service meeting the linguistic, emotional and cultural needs of people who are at a point in life where they need them most. The Centre campaigns for health awareness, especially in the areas that affect the community, promotes learning, provides emotional belonging as well integration, and assist people in distress.
CAP offers a broad range of activities in social welfare, education and training to the local communities. Including a Day-Care Centre for elderly, disabled and vulnerable people, a Luncheon Club, providing subsidised meals, for residents from Haringey and neighbouring boroughs, Advice and Information services and Elderly drop-in sessions. Other activities include weekly Yoga, ICT classes, Zumba, Tai Chi, Self defence Classes, Music Club etc. sessions on a weekly basis, regularly attended by people from different cultural backgrounds, Bollywood Dance training for young people, Table Tennis Club.
