Cotswold Lakes Trust is dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of the Cotswold Water Park for the benefit of wildlife and people. The Cotswold Water Park is a stunning wetland landscape with over 180 lakes covering an area of 42 square miles with a thriving population and within easy visiting distance of London, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff. It encompasses the headwaters of the Thames, stunning diversity of wildlife, some of the finest wild flower and hay meadows left in the UK, historic towns and villages, and a geological sub-structure which represents a resource of sand and gravel aggregates of national significance, as well as an educational treasure trove. Sixty years of aggregate extraction has left a mixed heritage which comprise the largest inland man-made wetland in Europe.
The Cotswold Lakes Trust aims to be the key focal point for the protection and improvement of the Cotswold Water Park and for any discussion concerning the future development of this rich natural environment. The Trust's strategy is based on promoting conservation, recreation and education within the Cotswold Water Park for the benefit of people and wildlife.
