The Child Law Advice Service is part of the Coram charity group. We provide legal advice by telephone and e-mail to those who would not otherwise be able to access this information. We specialise in Child Law relating to Family and Education matters. Volunteering with CLAS is an exciting opportunity to build on knowledge of Child, Family and Education Law and apply it to real-life situations. Volunteers are given full training and support to allow them to understand the law and deal with queries relating to it. Practical experience of speaking to clients, gaining all of the necessary information to advise and applying the law are vital skills for legal professionals and this is a great opportunity for development. All that is required of volunteers is that they have completed or are completing a Law degree, including a module on Child, Family or Education Law. You must be enthusiastic about helping children and their families, as well as being able to commit to a minimum of one day a week for three months. Volunteering is a great way to gain transferable skills, improve your CV and increase employability.
We provide our legal advice via two dedicated telephone advice lines, email advice and via our website's information pagesĀ
