I have founded the Consumer-Led Movement - a brand-new grass roots movement that provides a platform for individual consumers to sign up to a pledge on the website (consumerledmovement.com) to reduce their carbon footprint. The book that supports the movement - ‘Spend Green and Save The World - Tackling Climate Change Through the Consumer-Led Movement’ has just been published.
The book and movement align to the burgeoning field of research that demonstrates how collective personal action - instead of being an alternative to political policy on climate change, is in fact a crucial element to encourage it. Lifestyle change can, and must, shift towards sustainability whilst increasing personal and societal wellbeing, and the movement allows individuals to demonstrate their participation. The aim is that once people make personal choices as part of a collective movement, this will galvanise the positive impact on both carbon emissions and the cultural shift towards a much-needed green economy.
Members receive free guidance on what lifestyle choices make the most impact and how to easily implement them in the form of bitesize videos. We also provide a range of content on social media that informs the public about the climate crisis and encourages their participation.
