Our mission is to improve the lives of people living with aphasia across the UK
Aphasia is a communication disability caused by damage to the language centres of the brain that can affect understanding of language, speech, reading and writing but does not affect intelligence
We increase the ways in which people living with aphasia can be authentically involved in the services and opportunities available to them
We work with people with aphasia at the heart of all we do, to be in the driving seat – as demonstrators, deliverers, teachers, evaluators, active citizens, with the support and commitment of those without aphasia to achieve a world where people living with aphasia and communication disability find opportunity and fulfilment.
We pilot and evaluate effective and economical services; raise awareness of aphasia and all that we do is underpinned by practical research in a range of activities - regular groups; Drop-in; Connect for a Day; Aphasia News; Counselling; Volunteering
We provide training and consultancy to decision-makers and front-line providers in health and social care
We produce publications and resources by and for people with aphasia
Connect offers involvement, participation and community.
