Objectives

Compass Disability Services is a user-led organisation of disabled people and carers based in Taunton, Somerset. Established in 2000, at the heart of everything we do is a commitment to enabling and empowering disabled adults, children, young people and carers to be independent and have choice and control in their lives. We do this through the provision of a range of services, activities and training that aim to equip and support people to have a voice, make informed decisions, live full and independent lives and choose how they have their health and social care needs met.

Activities

Services and activities include:

  • Compass Wellbeing – a fully accessible and inclusive facility for the community, offering a range of services for adults, young people and children including a sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, a range of activities and groups and a community café ran by staff and volunteers.
  • Young Disabled Peoples Groups and Young Carers Groups for ages 11 – 16.
  • IncludesU – inclusive activities for children and their families.
  • Disability Network – provides a platform for disabled people and carers to have a voice and engage with a range of organisations in order to influence and shape services and facilities across Somerset.
  • Somerset Mental Wellbeing – promoting mental wellbeing through connecting people with their community.
  • Pre-employment support for people furthest away from the employment market.
  • Independent living Services – information, support and training for direct payment and personal health budget recipients.
