We help local communities create their own Community Benefit Societies, which deliver renewable energy or energy efficiency projects. Community Benefit Societies are formed by individuals volunteering from all walks of life with all skill types (the role is similar to Trustee of a charity). You just need to be motivated and driven by saving carbon and/or helping people tackle cold homes. The volunteers come together to form a group, we provide free training and support to help them decide what the most important energy projects might be in their area, then make them happen. Our help is vital so that places can work towards net zero and warmer homes.
We run a programme called Community Energy Pathways which enables stakeholders to work collaboratively to accelerate the growth of the community energy sector across England.
We are running the programme in Essex, Hampshire, Suffolk, Central Bedfordshire, Luton, Leicestershire, Surrey, the South Downs National Park and more places to come.
