Objectives

We are decentralising health & social care by helping social organisations improve their resilience and impact through consultancy, and signposting individuals to local resources through our blog, podcast and social prescribing directory. We want people to access a support service that resonates with them , this can drastically improve people’s health as stress and loneliness are involved in many disease pathways. Currently

  • 30% of the UK population live with one or more long-term conditions.
  • Disconnected communities cost £32 billion drain on public services
  • 45% of adults feel lonely sometimes or often in England.

Loneliness and disconnection causes and worsens health conditions – community can help reduce this and therefore improve health.

Ultimately, we need to develop supportive environments and connected communities so everyone is able to put their health first. We are already doing this, with our last evaluation showing that

  • 88% reported improvement in wellbeing due to CB
  • 79% said CB had made them more aware of their community

We are a small, friendly organisation, we have a network of long-standing volunteers, freelancers and staff. All our staff started off by volunteering back in the early days, so we have real buy-in due to our creative, friendly and collaborative approach.
