We are a registered charity (no. 1197058) in South West London. We began as a voluntary community group that has been organising a Christmas Day Dinner since 2017. Since 2021, we have supported care leavers all year round thanks to the generosity of our supporters. We are run by volunteers, including those with care experience themselves, who are committed to improving the lives of care leavers.

We are here for young adults who have been in care (foster care, children’s homes, kinship care) at any time and were looked after by (or live/study or work in) Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow borough. Leaving care can be a very difficult and isolating experience with many of these young adults lacking a support network. Cocoon exists to build a community around care leavers so they know they are cared for and held in high regard. How we help We provide financial support and practical assistance to improve living conditions, support aspirations, reduce feelings of isolation, alleviate hardship and to navigate through everyday stresses and strains. We connect with individuals and businesses who have something to contribute. So far this year have we been able to fund driving lessons and A-Level tutoring, replace broken appliances, furnish flats, provide flooring, carry out home repairs and garden maintenance, pay for vocational courses, equipment for studies and bikes to travel to college. We have supported care leavers to access health and well-being services and assisted young parents with getting what they need for their children – from prams to swimming lessons. Our Vision To build a supportive community around care experienced young adults that they can rely on in times of need. Our Mission Cocoon, Care After Care exists to improve the quality of life for care leavers by providing financial assistance and practical support.
