Objectives

Clyde Scouts provide adventure-based programmes for young people between the ages of 4 and 25 years old throughout the City of Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire and North and South Lanarkshire.

Over 1800 adult volunteers across the Region cover lots of different roles from Executives to hands on Group leaders. Our volunteers support over 6500 young people every year but we need you to help us grow.

There are lots of groups that have waiting lists and not enough adult volunteers to support them grow. Could you be that person?

Volunteering isn't just good for the young people you support, it's good for you too!

Our young people attend groups, camps, activities and jamborees where they are able to learn Skills for Life and develop in a safe environment. Whether the young person wants to meet new friends, nourish their love of drawing or learn amazing outdoor skills, scouts is the place to be.

Adult volunteers and young adult leaders are able to work with young people and lead programmes or activities or support in the background with our executives and committees. There is a space for everyone in Scouts and we are always looking for new faces.

Activities

We believe that through adventure we challenge individuals so that they learn and experience new things that enrich their lives.

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society

Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:

  • enjoy what they are doing and have fun
  • take part in activities indoors and outdoors
  • learn by doing
  • share in reflection
  • take responsibility and make choices
  • undertake new and challenging activities
  • make and live by their Promise

Clyde Scouts runs an outdoor centre at Auchengillan which provides a focus for the provision of adventure based programme and development activities for young people in local Scout Groups.

The Glasgow Scout Shop supplies Scout uniforms, books and badges and outdoor clothing and equipment that supports the programme undertaken by our youth members.

The Regional Commissioner is the lead volunteer in the Region and they are supported in their work by the Regional Team and a number of Committees.

We have volunteer spaces for new and returning people to Scouts and we couldn't be more excited to hear from you.
