The Clock Tower Sanctuary helps homeless young people (aged 16-25) in Brighton & Hove.
Our day centre is the only one of its kind in the city and we’re open 6 days a week.
Our mission is to prevent vulnerable young people from becoming part of the long-term homeless population.
Our vision is that all homeless young people are encouraged, supported, challenged and inspired to develop their full potential and transform their lives.
We provide a friendly, bright, centrally-located, safe space for young people to engage with their peers and other visiting agencies – without the worry of having to share a service with older homeless people who can be intimidating. We reach out to homeless young people and encourage them to visit the centre. We work in close partnership with a large range of other organisations, together providing a network of wrap-around support to our clients.
We provide a range of facilities to help young people cope with the practical problems that arise from homelessness and ensure their basic needs are met. These include a fully stocked kitchen, shower and laundry facilities, computer and telephone usage, a postal address and drop-ins from specialist services. Above all, we offer a big smile and a friendly welcome to our warm, safe and inclusive centre.
We run a range of fun, informal and interactive activities throughout the week to help build up young people’s trust, confidence and self-belief. Activities include music workshops, table tennis, art and craft classes, cookery, yoga and days out.
Often our clients have not had the opportunity to learn basic life skills that many people take for granted. We run a programme of bite-size, AQA accredited classes which have been developed by national charity Centrepoint. Our most popular modules include Living on a Budget and CV Writing.
Every young person has their own individual needs and challenges. By working closely with each client, we are able to identify the most appropriate path out of homelessness for them. One-to-one support is all about providing tailor-made help through mentoring, advocacy and case-working.
