Objectives

The Climate Coalition is the UK's largest group of people dedicated to taking action on climate change and the nature crisis. Founded in 2005, we have over 130 member organisations, with a combined supporter base of over 20 million people.

Our vision is to make the idea of a greener, fairer, more secure future in the UK the new normal by engaging communities, where they live, to take action on climate change and nature and ultimately limit the impact on people, places and life in the UK.

We want the next generation, at home and abroad, to benefit from a better future than the one we currently face, as we work to ensure that the UK Government and other key decision-makers will:

  • Secure a fair contribution to frontline climate-affected communities
  • Be on track to meet, in full, their net zero and global climate commitments by 2030
  • Be on track to put nature on a path to recovery by 2030

…and demonstrate global leadership on these issues.

We provide strategic leadership and convening, bringing together our members and partners to become more than the sum of our parts. Together, we are able to mobilise our collective memberships and supporters, millions of ordinary people, to become an unstoppable political force.

All our activities are focused on building a more diverse, sustained and visible public mandate for action on climate and nature, which in turn strengthens the political consensus and leads to action by the UK government.

Activities

Working with our members to convene and support, test and learn, and catalyse key events and campaigns, our strategy has three core objectives:

  1. Powering up by growing, convening and supporting our membership to reach and engage priority audiences with focused political prioritisation and alignment.
  2. Building up our shared knowledge and impact through a test and learn approach to engaging priority audiences.
  3. Scaling up our activities to demonstrate our collective strength, and reach priority audiences with political impact.

These are supported by two cross-cutting priorities:

  1. Diversity and justice: we will only be successful if our structures, campaigns and overall reach diversifies and are underpinned by fairness and justice.
  2. Consensus and collaboration: our unique value is to build consensus for the need for urgent action and to collaborate with others who are focused on a transition to a greener and healthier future.
