We build community relations and networks looking for opportunities to deliver environmental community education which will:
We focus on: Carbon negative no dig food growing, coppice management, hedging and basketry because these have the greatest advantages in cutting lifestyle emissions, locking up Carbon, offering education and skills training for the young and wider public, providing local food and materials for low Carbon living and an opportunity to set up a Climate Conservation Corps (portable skills school) to organise volunteers.
The charity is creating an educational demonstration plot for no dig carbon negative horticulture. Especially emphasising and educating the public about fungal mycorrhizal association with plants and its benefits in carbon draw down and growing nutrient dense fruit and vegetables. This involves using woodchip and biochar as a growing substrate sourced from community coppice worked on by a ‘Climate Conservation Corps’. Volunteer training camps aimed at young people working with nature not against it aided by a portable skills school. The first phase of this project is focussed on building the infrastructure for the education plot and portable skills school.
First phase establish site infrastructure
1 Improve accessibility to site for volunteers, members of public and woodchip providers
2 Provide Volunteer workers facilities: water supply, compost toilet, comfort area, tool storage and classroom/library.
3 Set up perennial and annual growing beds.
4 Set up small and large polytunnels for propagation, growing winter crops and woodchip solar dryer.
5 Set up a volunteer programme to set up growing beds and forest garden areas.
6 Set up portable camp infrastructure for use on field and off site work locations.
