Objectives

Would you like to be a hero and help us feed the hungry in London?

Join London’s first ‘last-mile’ food redistribution charity to help City Harvest rescue and distribute surplus food to those who need it most!

Distributing over 200,000 meals a week to over 350 London community projects, including homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programmes, mental health support schemes, and refuges, our volunteers are the life and soul behind what we do, helping to sort the amazing food donations we receive, ready for distribution!

Activities

By volunteering with us, you will have the chance to make a direct positive impact on thousands of vulnerable people in London.

Every volunteering experience with City Harvest will vary, as roles assigned will depend on the time of day and the needs of the day.

The two typical roles we offer to our volunteers are as a ‘warehouse assistant’ or a ‘driver’s assistant’:

WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT

Our warehouse volunteers are crucial to keeping the vans rolling and to making sure food is ready to go out to feed London! They are the packers, the stackers, the sorters, and the porters of our operation. You could be unloading deliveries, checking and sorting food, creating mixed meal boxes for the homeless, or carrying out other warehouse tasks to help in the day-to-day running of City Harvest. The opportunities are endless!

DRIVER'S ASSISTANT

While you are volunteering with us as a warehouse assistant, there may be the opportunity to join one of our drivers on their route, helping to collect donations and deliver to our many charity recipients across London. Each driver can be accompanied along their route by up to two volunteers. Volunteers team up with our drivers where possible, helping optimise our deliveries, building relationships with our food donors and the charities we serve, and providing vital hands-on support for our work.
