Objectives

City and Hackney Carers' Centre is a a small local charity passionate about supporting the well being and improving the quality of life of unpaid carers and vulnerable community groups within the City of London and Hackney.

City and Hackney Carers Centre is the only organisation in Hackney that supports the needs of unpaid carers. We are commissioned and provide all carer related services such as assessments, information and advice, support groups and education and training opportunities. We run a volunteer lead counselling, life coaching and listening ear service. In addition we develop and secure funding for community based projects which support the psycho-social, physiological and practical needs of specific carer groups such as LGBTQ+, Turkish/Kurdish and dementia carers.

We have recently diversified and in addition to supporting unpaid carers we now run projects enabling and empowering the elderly community of Hackney to become active integrated members of the wider community. We run a highly successful IT drop in and have recently started a project tackling isolation and loneliness in men 50+.

We exist to champion the needs of under represented communities such as unpaid carers and older adults and to offer them solace and a place to access vital information and support.

Activities

Our charitable objectives as listed on the Charity Commission website are:  The relief of persons suffering from disabilities arising from age, physical or mental disability in particular the provision of practical assistance, support, training, advocacy, counselling and information to those persons caring for persons with such disabilities in the city of London and the London borough of Hackney.

Through rigorous co-production with our service users the organisation is able to ensure that all community based projects, support groups and training and education sessions meet the tangible needs of unpaid carers. Through listening to the voices of our beneficaireis we are able to ensure that they are receiving the services they want and need at the appropriate times.
