Objectives

Citizens Advice Witness Service operates in all criminal courts across england and wales  and provides free and independent support for both Prosecution and Defence Witnesses giving evidence at a Criminal Court.

Our trained volunteers provide practical help, emotional support and information to witnesses so that they feel valued, respected and informed and able to give their best evidence in court.

Activities

Court based volunteer - supporting witnesses and their friends and family when they come to court. You will need to be available during court hours (Monday to Friday) from 8.45 to 17.00, we provide full free training and support and cover out of pocket expenses for travel and lunch whilst volunteering.

Outreach volunteers - Supporting witnesses who are vulnerable or intimidated by meeting away from the court environment, either at home or at another agreed safe place like a school or community centre.
